Request separate prototype and production prices
Programming and setup are spread differently over one, ten or a hundred parts. If you need a sample first, also state the possible production quantity, but treat the batches as separate scenarios. Do not increase quantity simply to reduce unit cost before validating shape and assembly. At LaserMet, the minimum is €50 for the complete order, excluding VAT and shipping, rather than €50 per individual part.
Keep tight tolerances where they are needed
Identify assembly dimensions, hole positions and contact faces. Applying a very tight requirement to an entire drawing can change processing, inspection and cost even if only one bore is critical. Any tolerance relaxation needs approval from the person responsible for the design. We do not automatically modify drawings to reduce cost. Include inspection requirements with the file so the quotation can account for the relevant checks.
Evaluate cutting and bending together
A flat pattern without the finished model can hide tooling-access, bend-sequence or hole-position issues. Send STEP and a dimensioned PDF alongside the DXF when available. Bend count is not the only factor: geometry, handling and setup also matter. The configurator can estimate eligible operations from the supplied data, while the final price and manufacturability are confirmed after reviewing the flat pattern and finished part.
Specify finishes before comparing prices
Deburring, threading, countersinking, weld grinding and coating can change part cost. Identify which operations are needed and where they apply. For coating, include the RAL colour, texture and masking areas. Compare the same finished part: cutting alone cannot be compared directly with cutting, bending and finishing. Operations still awaiting pricing should remain visible in the enquiry.
Send one consistent documentation package
Use the same part name and revision in the model, drawing and quantity list. Remove duplicate DXF outlines, declare units and state whether you supply the material. If alternative thicknesses or finishes are acceptable, identify them separately rather than leaving the workshop to guess. For production in Bucharest, also state collection or shipping requirements. Lead time is confirmed against complete documentation, material and the requested operations.
