STEP model and PDF drawing with matching revisions
Upload the 3D model and dimensioned PDF for each part where available. Use matching revisions and state the measurement units. If the model and drawing differ, identify the controlling document before requesting a quotation. A photograph may explain use but cannot adequately define a functional surface. If you only have a sketch, describe dimensions and interfaces; 3D design can be reviewed separately from manufacturing.
Material and starting stock
Specify the full material grade and who supplies the stock. For a shaft, available bar diameter and length help prepare the estimate; for a milled part, the three block or plate dimensions are useful. Do not confuse finished dimensions with stock dimensions. If the customer supplies material, state the available quantity and required documentation. Allowances for workholding and machining are reviewed separately.
Tolerances, threads and roughness
Identify bores, diameters and mounting faces with special requirements. For a thread, specify type, size and usable depth. Mark an H7 bore or a required surface roughness explicitly on the drawing. This information affects processing and inspection. Do not assume a STEP model automatically conveys every requirement on the technical drawing or in a contractual standard.
Quantity, samples and subsequent operations
State the quantity for the current batch and whether a sample should be approved before production. Include treatments, coatings or assembly required after machining. If the part combines turning and milling, keep both operations in one enquiry and describe the relevant surfaces. A requested delivery date is a project requirement; the confirmed lead time depends on material, workholding, programming and the full operation sequence.
How to use the LaserMet online estimate
Select turning, milling or combined machining and enter material, dimensions and quantity. The configurator can calculate an indicative price using the displayed assumptions; special tolerances and complex geometry need review. Nominal machine travels do not automatically define the largest possible part: workholding, tools and access also matter. Send both model and drawing with your enquiry to the Bucharest workshop. LaserMet validates the final quotation before manufacturing.
